The Bethlehem Karate Association hosted the annual IOBK seminar at its dojo in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, from Sept. 26-28, 2026.

Friday Evening

The weekend began Friday evening as Sensei Matt Molineux, hanshi, conducted a session focused on form review and applications for Kusanku.

Sensei James Gifford, hanshi, followed with a dedicated workshop covering the Eku form.

Saturday Sessions

Saturday morning started with a comprehensive review of stationary and walking basic techniques. Participants then split into groups to refine fundamental basics or practice San He, our introductory white crane form.

Prior to lunch, several black belts were honored with promotions and awards.

The afternoon sessions featured insights from IOBK board of advisor members:

  • Kevin McGrath, hanshi: Performed a goju-ryu form before leading group partner drills.
  • Steve Aldus, si tai gung: Demonstrated techniques from Hsing-i chuan, highlighting the Metal and Water elements, as well as the Monkey animal form.

Saturday wrapped up with Sensei Robin Gregus, kyoshi, guiding a review of black belt ippons.

Sunday Morning & Closing

The seminar concluded on Sunday with a focus on katas and bunkai for Naihanchi Shodan, Naihanchi Nidan, and Naihanchi Sandan, with Senseis Kevin Boyd and Paul Sabota offering their perspectives. A separate group also gathered with Sensei Gifford to review San He.
